In December 2020, the long-awaited agreement was signed between PlasticsEurope (PE), European Plastics Converters (EuPC) and Cefic for the OCS project.
The OCS project includes:
For the first 2 items the OCS Technical Committee was set up, ECTA is represented in this team by Evert de Jong. The update of the SQAS modules will, as usual, be taken care of by Cefic’s SQAS T&A Committee. Drafts of all documents should be finished by mid-2021.
Pilot assessments at a sample of producers, converters and LSP’s are planned for later this year. The final documents should be ready by end-2021. By that time a selection of assessors will have been trained as well.
The pilot phase will be concluded by adapting the SQAS scheme with OCS requirements. The translation of the revised parts will be made after the various SQAS modules. An additional training for the already accredited SQAS assessors will also be arranged.
ECTA is planning to organize a separate Webinar Training. It will be planned under the ECTA Responsible Care banner, solely dedicated to the impact of OCS requirements on SQAS and the ECTA Responsible Care program. This Webinar Training is aimed at the ECTA RC members and ECTA general members involved in the relevant activities. Participation by non-member LSP’s and others is also possible.
ECTA is now a partner Association of the OCS initivative. Find more partners here.
