Our Responsible Care members continue to perform well on the latest SQAS questionnaire
When the 2025 version of the SQAS questionnaire was published last September, there was widespread concern about the impact that the new GHG emission calculation questions would have on overall scores. The reason for this is that SQAS now goes beyond the requirements of ISO14083 and the GLEC framework in terms of pushing for primary data.
At the recent SQAS General Assembly, data was presented which showed the overall average for assessments completed on the 2025 version to be 55.09% on section 9 (GHG emissions). This was only slightly worse than the average for the previous 2022 version (56.4%).
By comparison, in a sample of assessments for Responsible Care members carried out between January and April 2026, the average score for section 9 was 83.77%. This is a significant difference being over 28% better than the general average.
In the table below, you can see the comparative scores for each sub-section and the Responsible Care member scores are higher in every area, especially around the calculation methodology which has proven difficult for many companies.
In summary, this analysis shows that Responsible Care members work hard to surpass the minimum standards in all areas of safety and sustainability. Working with these companies should give confidence that you are in safe hands and will get leading edge performance.
