SQAS revision 2025 & update on best practice guidelines

Much work has taken place since last summer to review and try to reduce the number of questions in SQAS for the forthcoming revision. The initial work is now complete and over the four main modules (core, transport, cleaning & warehousing) around 32 questions have been eliminated and a further 62 merged in order to save time during the audits.
All of these changes were approved at a meeting of the SQAS T&A Committee on 13th March. There are a number of areas where new questions are being added such as emissions calculation and digitalisation and these still need to be finalised.

The proposed timescale is to complete the questionnaires by the end of April, training can then take place between May and July and the 2025 version will then be implemented from September.

Work continues on ensuring that the ECTA-Cefic best practice guidelines are kept up to date. There were three that were reviewed last year and published in November: working at height, transport security and cleaning of dry bulk polymer tanks.

Working groups have been established to review a further two guidelines; managing subcontractors in road transport and safe loading and unloading of road freight vehicles. Dates for publication of these have yet to be confirmed. In case you are interested to review these guidelines please contact Steve.Rowland@ecta.com
